Join textile artist Alisha Hayes of Badger & Bumblebee for this whimsical needle felting workshop at Flock & Gaggle in The Lowry Outlet, Quayside Media City and create your very own charming fly agaric toadstool 🍄.
This is the perfect creative activity for a lovely day out. In this beginner-friendly session, you will learn how to transform soft wool fibres into a solid 3D shape using special barbed needles. You will be guided step by step through all the needle felting techniques you'll need to complete your project. Pictures in this listing include the work of other people that had never held a felting needle before for you to see the sort of work you can be making with no prior experience.
You don't need any prior experience to take part in this workshop. All equipment is provided, including: high quality local wool, a felting mat, felting needles and finger mitts so all you need to bring is yourself for a relaxing and creative experience. This delightful workshop will introduce you to a new creative outlet, leaving you with your own lovely toadstool artwork and the confidence to continue your felting journey at home.
There's a discount if you purchase 2 tickets but please be reassured many people do come on their own to workshops and leave having made great friends along the way. These sessions are true to the rich history of textile making in that they are a wonderful opportunity for telling stories, being creative and embracing differences. People from all walks of life are welcome and always leave having made works they’re proud of
These felting workshops are all about bringing our own creativity into the sculptures, rather than the type of sessions where everyone makes the exact same artworks; participants are encouraged to express themselves and embrace the weird and wonderful properties of nature to create beauty.
