Overview

Join us for a one-hour virtual workshop on negotiating with suppliers.

As booksellers we're under no illusion about the narrow margins we're working with, and often the terms that publishers present can feel immoveable. What’s more, it can be tough to determine which terms you might look to improve, how you’d go about beginning that conversation with your suppliers and exactly what any improvement might mean to your business.

Join us for a one-hour virtual workshop designed to clear up misconceptions around what can and can't be negotiated, give you the tools to ask for more of what you need and pave the way for better publisher conversations.

In this session led by Mr B's very own Nic Bottomley, you'll learn how to:

  • Examine the pros & cons of different terms models and work out what’s best for you and your bookshop
  • Assess your current terms and level of business with individual publishers, and set up ongoing tracking to keep on top of it and adjust when necessary
  • Prepare for publisher negotiations which aim for fair and beneficial terms by focusing on the mutual benefit of selling more books

The session will be recorded for all who can't attend and uploaded to the Skills Hub

RSVP here and we'll send you a Zoom link in the new year.
