Description

Join us to learn more about GDPR, what it means for you and your clients, and what your company should do about it.

About GDPR

Just 7 months left to prepare for General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). It’s a fresh set of rules that will completely disrupt the way you manage data, forcing some businesses to drastically overhaul their processes or risk major consequences. The event will operate under Chatham House rules, as usual for NF.

Format

We will be kindly hosted by law firm Stephenson Harwood. Their Head of Data Protection, Jonathan Kirsop, will start the evening with a presentation to illustrate a pragmatic take on GDPR. This will be followed by a panel discussion where Jonathan will be joined by Ivan Mazour, CEO of Ometria, Ben Leonard, CEO of META, Kathryn Corrick, partner at Corrick, Wales & Partners, and Ben Sigler, also at Stephenson Harwood, in the dispute resolution / litigation team.

We'll start at 7pm with food, drinks (generously offered by our host) and banter (generously provided by you); the presentation will begin at 730pm.

The panel

Jonathan Kirsop advises a wide range of clients on commercial and technology transactions and data privacy. He heads up the firm's data protection and information law practice and is known for providing pragmatic and practical advice assisted by his experience on secondment at the Information Commissioner's Office and certain global banks.

Ivan Mazour is the CEO and Founder of Ometria, a customer marketing platform built specifically for retailers, giving them a unified view of their customers and enabling them to send individually personalised messages to each one. Ometria has received $11m in funding, is backed by several leading Global VCs and London’s most successful technology entrepreneurs, and currently profiles fifty million individually identified consumers for over a hundred retailers. Ivan has also invested in over thirty technology startups, holds degrees in Mathematics from Cambridge University, and in Economics from the Open University and is a published author and regular public speaker.

Ben Leonard founded META in 2017 to help people help themselves. META’s mission is to accelerate how data is used to empower people. Prior to META, Ben spent 18 years in Investment Banking at HSBC leading a number of businesses. Most recently, he was Co-Head of the UK Financial Services team where he advised clients on Strategy, Operational & Regulatory change and Capital raising. Ben also spent time working with the UK Retail Business and the Pension Fund at HSBC, engaging with Treasury & the FCA on the Financial Advice Market Review and playing a core role in HSBC's involvement in the Pension Dashboard project. His interests include financial inclusion and social impact investing.

From being Online Manager at the New Statesman to Head of Learning and Content at the Open Data Institute, Kathryn Corrick combines extensive experience of digital technology strategy, communications, and change management with a practical understanding of public policy and the law. Kathryn co-founded the online democracy platform Represent.me, where she created open data and data protection standards, and is founding partner of Corrick, Wales & Partners LLP, helping organisations find opportunities in GDPR.

Ben Sigler is a solicitor with extensive experience in all aspects of dispute resolution including arbitration, litigation, and regulatory investigations. He primarily focuses on the financial, technology, and sports sectors, white collar crime and reputation management. He manages the firm's sports practice.
