Description
Social at scale – the challenge of digital media for the 2014 Commonwealth Games
A sense of community was central to the success of the Olympics, as ubiquitous broadband, mobiles and social media mean audiences are no long just spectators, they are ‘content creators’.
The Olympic Games enjoyed an unprecedented level of attention on social media with tweets numbering 150 million for the duration of the games. How can the Commonwealth Games emulate this success?
This event will look at the challenge of using social technologies to this scale, and explore how 2014 partners are working alongside a new set of ‘content creators’ to best capture the Commonwealth story and ensure a lasting legacy.
Speakers will include:
John Beattie - BBC Scotland
Alex Balfour – Head of Digital Media for the 2012 Olympic Games
Paul Giblin - Digital Media Manager, Glasgow 2014
Fin Wycherley - Supersize Media
Dr Stephen Tagg - Strathclyde Business School
Registration and breakfast will open at 09.30 with presentations starting at 10.00 prompt.
