 One Year Certificate in Christian Ministry Course Information

Net Bible Academy has a clear vision – to equip you for service! (Ephesians 4:12) It offers three streams of teaching, which form part of a wider Christian ministry and leadership focus. The three streams are: Application (MIN), Theology (SYS), and Bible (BIB).

This one year course offers a Certificate in Christian Ministry, and is divided into three modules. The first module is taught over a 4 week period on Monday evenings (7:30 – 9:30). (It also involves a Saturday Outreach event.) The other two modules are each taught over two weekends (Friday evenings: 7:30 – 9:30; Saturdays: 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM).  A 1,000word assessment (optional) is set for each module.

Course modules and dates
2017 – 2018

Evangelism Masterclass with Mark Ritchie

Module One (September)

Application stream: Evangelism (MIN03)

Lecturer: Mark Ritchie

Dates: 2017 – September: 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th.

            Participation in an Outreach event (30th September) also forms part of this module.

Module description

This module is made up of eight topics, each of which is designed to equip you to be effective in evangelism. The eight topics are: (1) Preparation – knowing the why; (2) Relevance; (3) Power and faith; (4) Expectancy; (5) How to start a conversation; (6) How to avoid the pitfalls; (7) Apologetics; (8) Explaining the good news. The Outreach event will give you an excellent opportunity to apply some of the things you have learned in a ‘live’ context.

Trinity, Incarnation, Atonement by Dr Glenn Balfour

Module Two (February – March)

Theology stream: Trinity, Incarnation and Atonement (SYS02)

Lecturer: Dr Glenn Balfour

Dates 2018:      This is an intensive module held over TWO WEEKENDS.

First Weekend Friday 2nd – Saturday 3rd February;

Second Weekend Friday 2nd – Saturday 3rd March.

Module description

In this module we will be looking at the three fundamental pillars of Systematic Theology with Christian thinking. These are Trinity, Incarnation and Atonement. The student will gain a mature understanding of each of these areas of doctrine, the implications they have for Christian life and a Christian world-view, and how they may be applied to the contemporary context (both local church, and wider society).

The uniqueness and significance of each of these doctrines to the Christian faith will be examined in turn. We will begin with Trinity – the doctrine that the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are all distinct, yet all are the One God. We move on to the Incarnation – the doctrine that God became fully human in the person of Jesus Christ, without undermining his deity. We finish with the Atonement – the doctrine that the work and person of Jesus Christ (especially in his death and resurrection) restores relationship with God.

John’s Gospel by Dr Glenn Balfour

Module Three (May – June)

Bible stream: John’s Gospel (BIB02)

Lecturer: Dr Glenn Balfour

Dates: 2018:     This is an intensive module held over TWO WEEKENDS.

                          First Weekend Friday 4th – Saturday 5th May;

                          Second Weekend Friday 8th – Saturday 9th June.

Module description

This module begins by looking at the structure of John’s Gospel and offering an overview of it. It then works through the Gospel, chapter by chapter, paying particular attention to a number of selected passages. In the process of this, the student will build up an understanding and appreciation of the writer’s purpose and theology. You will also examine how the message and theology of the Gospel can be applied to both the local church and the individual believer today.

At the end of this module, you should be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of the content of John’s Gospel. This will include an understanding of the message and theological emphases in the Gospel. You should also be able to apply the Gospel meaningfully to the contemporary context. You should also be able to understand how a number of scholars handle the Gospel.

All courses must be paid for in advance and upon booking. The cost of the one year Certificate course is £320. (This only includes teas and coffees, all food must be provided by yourselves on the intensive days). Each module can be booked into individually for a cost of £120 but the certificate does provide a £40 saving annually.

Possible optional trip to Israel:   Tuesday 3rd April – Friday 13th April 2018
