Net-walking in Hathersage

Date: Fri May 16 2024

Time: 09:30 AM

Starting Point: Open House

Come join us for a fun and refreshing net-walking event in the beautiful village of Hathersage. We will be meeting at the Open House Cafe at 9:30 AM for pre-walk drinks, before starting our walk at 10:00 AM. This is a great opportunity to meet new people, get some exercise, and enjoy the fresh air. See you there!

5 reasons why this is a must-attend event

1: Walking is a creativity booster: As founders we take a thinking walk every week to boost our creativity. Research shows that walking boosts creativity by stimulating blood flow and oxygen to the brain. Joining us in conversation as we walk will help you open up fresh perspectives and access new ideas. [see Ted Talk below]

2: Recharge your mind and body: Physical activity elevates your mood, improve focus and even enhance sleep quality. We spend way to much time stuck behind our desks, so we wanted to create an event that would give us all an excuse to get out the office, up our step count and boost our mood.

3: A better way to connect : Net-walking combines networking with walking. I am a bit shy, I don't like networking, but I do like talking to people and walking. Trust me, meeting people on a walk is way less awkward than being stuck in a room with congealing pizza!

4: Green spaces boost well-being: If you've not ventured out to Hathersage it is a really pretty village surrounded by loads of rolling countryside. Studies from Public Health England emphasize that green spaces contribute positively to mental health, helping to reduce stress and improve well-being.

5: Fun: Walking and chatting is fun!

Frequently asked questions

What happens if it rains?

We are walking regardless of the weather. Check the forecast and come ready for whatever the weather will throw at us.

Who is this event for?

This event is perfect for senior leaders, managers, and executives in technical or professional services, who fancy a walk and a chat with like-minded peers.

How will I get there?

By car - there's a decent car park opposite Hathersage outdoor pool. By Train - there is a train station in Hathersage, the 9.14 from Sheffield arrives 9.32; and getting home the 13.46 from Hathersage arrives Sheffield 14.05.

Is the coffee and lunch FREE?

Sadly No. You will need to buy your own, or bring your own and enjoy along the way.

Can I bring my dog?

Furry friends are welcome in the Open House cafe. We will have Islay our crazy vizsla with us. If it helps your thinking - we will be walking through sheep fields so much of the walk will need your dog to be on a lead.

How hard will the walk be?

We're planning a 5km walk, when we did it the other day it took 1 hour 45 minutes. We walk at a steady pace - not too fast otherwise you can't talk. Some of it is uphill! Most of it is through country fields.
