Event description
We need to reach net-zero emissions to keep global warming below 1.5 degrees. Is Carbon Capture and Storage the answer?

About this Event

Reaching net-zero emissions as soon as possible is vital if we are to keep global warming below 1.5 degrees. But greenhouse gas emissions are at record levels and show no sign of dropping. Might Carbon Capture and Storage then be the answer? Or is it ultimately counter-productive, lulling us into a false sense of security that distracts from the inevitable need to reduce emissions?

We will be joined by Dr. Samuel Krevor, leader of the Subsurface CO2 group at Imperial, which examines the costs and feasibility of CCS, and Bradley Steel, senior consultant on Poyry, who works extensively on the potential for carbon capture storage in the UK.
