About this event

  • 6 days 3 hours

This course is designed to teach beginners how to safely shoot a recurve bow. Our friendly sessions are in small groups (maximum of 6 archers).

Attendees need to commit to both sessions.

Sunday 9th June 2024 10am - 2.30pm Indoors at Scout Hut, Flamsteed Rd, Cambridge CB1 3QU Please bring some snacks for the break

Saturday 15th June 2024 10am - 12.30pm Outdoor shooting with our club at Hill's Road Sports field 20 Sedley Taylor Rd, Cambridge CB2 8PW (wear appropriate clothing)

After successfully completing the course you will have the necessary skills to safely shoot a recurve bow and may be able to join Netherhall Archers or another Archery GB affiliated club.

Attendees would need to be able to draw a bow of at least 16 pounds, this will usually be from around 10 -12 years old. Everyone attending needs to be able to concentrate and take instruction for the session length to enjoy the sport and keep everyone safe.

Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of each training session but this could be a great opportunity for them to try too! We offer a family (one adult, one child) ticket.

Please wear closed-toe shoes, tops without draw strings and remove any jewellery which may be caught by the bowstring. This includes upper body piercings. Bringing a belt might be helpful to hang your quiver from.

Please note your target may be shared with another person but you will be allocated individual bows and arrows.
