About this event
Netil, one of East London’s leading creative hubs, is opening its doors to invite you into the studios of some of its visionary designers: Jason Bruges Studio, XK Studio, Totzke, Hito Estudio and A Running Commentary.
Celebrate industry-defining multidisciplinary design as you move through the building, encountering immersive installations, works-in-progress and conversation with leading voices in contemporary practice.
Jason Bruges Studio | Jason Bruges Studio is made up of architects, industrial designers, engineers, visualisers and specialists in electronics and programming. Internationally renowned as a pioneer of the hybrid space between art, architecture and technology, the Studio intervenes in the urban environment to weave a sense of magic into the fabric of a place. On the night, they will present a series of prototypes that reveal the processes behind recent works, including Energy Dynamics 2024, a data-driven installation and digital frieze. The team will be on hand to discuss their practice.
XK Studio | A research-led design and motion practice, XK Studio specialises in creating hyper-real 3D visuals and moving images. Blending artistic vision with technical precision, they craft visual narratives often inspired by nature, science, and materiality. Collaborators and clients range from cultural figures and institutions such as the London Symphony Orchestra and SOPHIE, to leading brands including Apple, Microsoft, Issey Miyake, and Swatch. For Netil Open Studios, they will show visuals created for OFF Festival, alongside unreleased works in progress, offering visitors a behind-the-scenes glimpse into their studio practice.
Totzke | Totzke is a rug design consultancy, whose practice brings together design-led interiors and technical durability for commercial and hospitality spaces, with each piece ethically hand-crafted in India. For Open Studios, they will present Pathways, a new collection inspired by the textures and colourways of urban environments, from terracotta brickwork to stone pavers in northern Spain. The designer will be in the studio to share the creative process behind commercial textile design.
Hito Estudio | Hito is a design studio working across food, art and crafted design. Their practice moves fluidly between editorial, styling and spatial design, guided by a local, human, and curious approach. Their portfolio is a cabinet de curiosités in food, fashion, and wellness, fostering a community that contributes to global culture. For the evening, Through textures, materiality, and collective reflection, Hito will be sharing how food and design weave together in their practice — an invitation to step into their universe.
A Running Commentary | A Running Commentary (A.R.C) is a production company working across live-action and animation. Their portfolio spans feature films, series, commercials, branded content, and music videos, created in collaboration with a global network of leading directors and creatives, with clients having included Lenovo, JBL, Harley Davidson, Jaguar, Soulwax, Julio Bashmore, Yusuf / Cat Stevens and Bastille. For Open Studios, A.R.C will share a curated selection of works from their diverse practice in the form of projection, offering insight into their craft-led approach to contemporary storytelling, set to live DJ sets.
