Event description

Description

This month we are continuing our route along the Pilgrim's Way for those Pilgrims who came from London. We'll pick up the trail in Darford and on this occasion walk to Otford.

It's an 11.5 mile walk through beautiful English countryside and has a number of opt out points along the way from where you can get a train back into London.

We walk beside the River Darent along the Darent valley passing through villages that the pilgrims themselves would have visited. There are a number of different things to see and links to famous people like historian Arthur Mee who lived in the area, the poet Edmund Spenser who wrote about the river in 1856 and we pass the silhouette of Mick Jagger, Dartford born, as we leave the town.

Looks pretty flat and the many villages offer refreshment places as we walk.
.

We'll start around 9.30 and will stop for coffee and lunch and probably end up in the pub for a drink afterwards.

To make sure we are in flow with the weather, whatever it may be, please wear layers as this allows you to take off or add as temperature varies. Bring a bottle of water and a snack or two e.g some nuts or a protein bar incase you get the nibbles and also money for lunch and drinks.

Final details will be emailed out to those signing up at the latest the day before the walk.

We only have ten places available on this walk, so sign up as soon as you can!

With "Netwalking Women" we have weekend walks each month. We alternate the weekend days so that one month the walk is on a Saturday and then the next month on a Sunday.

It’s a day of investing in you, your health and wellbeing; of putting yourself first and as the opportunity arises, doing business in a different way! But you don’t have to be a business woman – you can be a woman who enjoys the company of other women, a woman who has chosen to take a day out from her job to look after herself, a mum who is child free for a time and choosing to spend her day in this way.

Walking is a wonderful way to get some exercise, to see a new part of a city or a corner of the countryside. It’s a wonderful way to socialise and to network too. When you’re walking you don’t need to keep eye contact and this can be very useful when challenging and difficult conversations are taking place. In all my years of walking with women I have observed the most frivolous and lighthearted conversations one moment and the next, a very deep and serious discussion. Walking allows all of that.

At the end of the day:

  • you'll come away refreshed and with a clearer head having had a day in the fresh air

  • you’ll have met great women

  • you’ll have chatted, shared and learnt

  • you’ll have enjoyed coffee and lunch stops and perhaps an after walk drink

  • you’ll feel energised and exercised

  • you’ll be looking for the date of the next event..

This is time and space for you and it’s going to happen once a month.
