Friends Who Are Going
Event description

The very first walking group I set up was as a result of having trained 18 wonderful women to get fit for a two day 38 mile sponsored walk for Breakthrough Breast Cancer in 2006. Once the event was over the women wanted to do more walking and that's when the East End Girls was born. It's still going strong.

With "Netwalking Women" we have Friday and weekend walks each month. We alternate the weekend days so that one month the walk is on a Saturday and then the next month on a Sunday.

Netwalking Women is a great opportunity to do just that twice a month. It’s a day of investing in you, your health and wellbeing; of putting yourself first and as the opportunity arises, doing business in a different way! But you don’t have to be a business woman – you can be a woman who enjoys the company of other women, a woman who has chosen to take a day out from her job to look after herself, a mum who is child free for a time and choosing to spend her day in this way.

Walking is a wonderful way to get some exercise, to see a new part of a city of a corner of the countryside. It’s a wonderful way to socialise and to network too. When you’re walking you don’t need to keep eye contact and this can be very useful when challending and difficult conversations are taking place. In all my years of walking with women I have observed the most frivilous and lighthearted conversations one moment and the next a very deep and serious discussion the next. Walking allows all of that.

At the end of the day you’ll –

  • come away refreshed and with a clearer head having had a day in the fresh air

  • you’ll have met great women

  • you’ll have chatted, shared and learnt

  • you’ll have enjoyed coffee and lunch stops and perhaps an after walk drink

  • you’ll feel energised and exercised

  • you’ll be looking for the date of the next event..

Bring your camera, bring your business cards for our Friday walks. Wear walking gear and trainers or walking shoes/boots. Prepare to explore and have fun.

This is time and space for you and it’s going to happen twice a month.

It's that time of year to make sure that our walk has a Christmas flavour so we can get into the Christmas spirit and that we build in time to celebrate the walk, the friendships and our year over at least one cocktail.

We are going to do a walk that we have done before but with a twist. This walk will start at Highgate tube station and for the first part we'll walk through Highgate Village, Hampstead Heath, Belsize park where coffee and cake sounds like a good idea and then Primrose Hill and down into Regent's Park. This is where we shake up the usual route, slow the pace somewhat and start to savour the decor and the shops of Marylebone High Street, St Christopher's Place, Bond St and Piccadilly ending up along the Southbank with its Christmas Market and the Archduke wine bar where a late lunch and an early cocktail or two bring the day to a close.

This is not a route march but neither is it a dander so purposeful walking . We will end before dark though. But as usual think of this as a day out and embrace this time for you and the fact that you are investing in your health, wellbeing and longevity as well as having fun.
