About this event
If you are part of the military community we invite you to attend our career insight event to learn more about the different railway careers we have at both Network Rail and South Western Railway. You will have a tour of our Control centre, a section on Engineering and Track, a section on Operational roles including Guard, Train Driver and Rail Community Officer and a mini careers fair! Hiring managers will be available to speak to, as well as members of the Recruitment team for any application advice. This event is arranged via the Careers Transition Partnership.
The Network Rail story is, quite simply, the story of our organisation and the place it serves. Our vision is of putting passengers first. This vision explains who we are as a company, why we exist, and our shared purpose. We look after the railway infrastructure, bridges, stations, rail tracks, level crossings and signalling technology. Network Rail has a newly launched employee network for our armed forces community and employs over 40,000 people across England, Scotland and Wales.
At South Western Railway we take pride in the journey and put the customer at the heart of everything we do. We operate some of the busiest routes in the country covering Waterloo to Exeter. Our 5,500+ employees deliver 11,000 services each week at 213 stations. Over half of our employees have worked for us for more than 10 years and we help all our colleagues to achieve their full potential by providing high quality learning and development opportunities along with processes designed to encourage and support. We have a large range of roles available from but not limited to engineering, projects, safety, human resources, customer service and operations. We’ve also hold the Silver Award under the Employer Recognition Scheme which demonstrates our commitment to the military community and being a forces friendly employer.
Please note this event is specifically for service leavers and veterans. However, if you are not part of the military community we would still like to hear from you. Please do reach out at recruitment@swrailway.com with any enquiries and we will be happy to help.
