Event description

Description

Most academic staff will be reasonably experienced at networking with their peers within their own subject area. Networking in a business environment, however, can often require different skills. This session will look at how to prepare for networking events, how to spot opportunities and techniques for making contacts and connections both offline and online.

As a result of this training, the delegate will understand the necessity of planning prior to attending a networking event and will feel more confident that they will be able enter a room build and initiate business relationships in a pleasant and professional manner, spot opportunities to take connections further and set up the next contact with professionalism and confidence.

This workshop will;

  • Provide an understanding of the networking process and the importance of preparation and planning.

  • Give you techniques for effective networking, helping you to work the room in the correct way.

  • Help you to formulate your answer to the Question 'What do you do' in a way which people can understand and create further dialogue.

  • The opportunity to network with fellow course delegates using the techniques you've learned

  • Provide tips on how to build relationships and follow up with connections after the event.
