Description

Networking with HR Specialists is the first Huddersfield-based event of the 2016-17 year and we hope as many members can come along and join us to discuss a number of important HR topics.

You will have the opportunity to join a group of colleagues and network with a number of HR specialists. The specialists will explore their views on the latest challenges and ideas in their area and be happy to answer questions you have on related topics which include:

  • L&D
  • Employment Law
  • Engagement and business culture
  • HR Operations and more

We hope to organise the evening so you get the chance to talk to everyone as well as hear about the West Yorkshire Committee and the different initiatives we are running.

Objectives:

  • To inform about latest thinking in major HR topics
  • To engage in debate with other HR professionals about issues and initiatives in your organisation
  • To network with HR professionals on topics of common interest and find out more about their work

 Expected outcomes:

  • Information about topical issues in organisations today
  • Greater understanding on how others have tackled organisational issues
  • A stronger network of HR professionals and colleagues

 All HR professionals, managers and business partners as well as those with HR responsibility in organisations.

Brief speaker/company profile:

Deborah Vickers

Deborah Vickers has 18 years of HR experience built up through her employment in the following roles:

  • Operations Manager at BT / O2
  • Workforce Development Manager at West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue
  • HR Business Partner Calderdale College


The last 7 years has seen Deborah focusing her career on Learning and Development in the Public Sector. Deborah has managed many projects and initiatives in the L&D arena and can provide an insight into the challenges that organisations often have when balancing value for money with good quality L&D interventions that add value to the organisation and the bottom line.

Deborah has experience of designing and delivering courses in house as well as sourcing external training. She has a wealth of knowledge on the L&D environment and can provide information on new developments that are on the horizon within the field.

 

Mark Lewis

Mark Lewis Consulting Limited bringing work to life

Following a varied background gained primarily within the service industry culminating in a role as HR Director, Mark became self employed in 2002 working and has since worked as a consultant and trainer specialising in organisational and personal development trading as Mark Lewis Consulting Limited, under the banner "bringing work to life".

Built on a simple philosophy of engagement; encouraging organisations to develop businesses and cultures within which people want, and are able to contribute to their full potential; and developing individuals to realise their potential through understanding and recognising the choices they make and there impact on work and life, the company continues to grow and develop.



As a consultant and organisational development specialist Mark uses a range of business and management models to develop practical solutions and help organisations realise their aspirations, develop future strategies and/or overcome the challenges of change. A Chartered Management Consultant (CMC) and Senior Investors In People Practitioner with Mark works with organisations large and small across a wide variety of sectors to improve business performance through effective employee engagement.

Managing Director & Senior Advocate

Having worked in Employment Law for over 15 years for large organisations, John identified a gap in the market to offer a service that was more personal and bespoke and set up his own business, Elcons Employment Law.

“We pride ourselves on delivering a first class service by building strong working relationships with our clients, taking the time to get to know each business and going above and beyond expectations.”

As well as being Managing Director, John is involved with day to day running of the business and is Elcons’ Senior Advocate representing the majority of clients at Tribunal, having an outstanding success rate.
