Overview

This session is designed to equip executive coaches with the insight, confidence, and practical tools to support neurodivergent clients.

With increasing rates of awareness and diagnosis of neurodivergent conditions, being aware of -and adaptive to – neurological diversity is a must for coaches. This session is designed to equip executive coaches with the insight, confidence, and practical tools to support neurodivergent clients more effectively. By the end of the session, participants will be able to recognise key neurodivergent traits in professional contexts, adapt their coaching style to foster safety, and apply inclusive techniques that honour cognitive diversity.

We’ll begin with a grounding in neurodiversity fundamentals—exploring common profiles such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and sensory processing differences, and how these show up in leadership behaviours, communication styles, and workplace dynamics. From there, we’ll examine how neurodivergence intersects with coaching practice, including rapport-building, goal-setting, and navigating executive function challenges.

The heart of the session focuses on practical tools and techniques, both quick and simple techniques to implement and a selection of frameworks that can be helpful. We’ll also explore how to co-create coaching agreements that support autonomy and create safety. Finally, we’ll look at pitfalls to avoid—such as inadvertently reinforcing deficit narratives, misinterpreting emotional regulation, or overlooking sensory needs in virtual and in-person settings.

The session is led by Liv Blaney, a PCC-accredited executive and neurodiversity coach with a distinctive blend of analytical rigour and human-centred leadership. Liv brings over 16 years of senior experience at Goldman Sachs, where she led global operations and strategic change. She holds an MSc in Coaching for Behaviour Change, is an ICF Associate Board Member and has published research and a recent book in the field of neurodiversity.
