About this event

Event description - This event is supported by the The Women's Engineering Society, the Chartered Institute of Building and Women in Sustainable Rail.

The industry could benefit from learning more about neurodiversity and aiming to inspire neurodivergent students, engineers, parents and inclusive employers. The aim of this talk is to empower the positive perception of Neurodiversity. It will celebrate the success in diversity by challenging the stereotypes and highlighting fantastic current engineers as role models. The event will be as follows.

A talk from an industry expect on the power of neurodiversity in the workplace and tips on inclusive recruitment and retention: Steven Stylianou - National Autistic Society and a talk from the perspective of neurodiverse engineering PhD Researcher Jennifer Glover.

Biographies :

Jennifer Glover is in her final year of an Aeroacoustic PhD at Loughborough University. As an engineering activist she is passionate about promoting STEM with a focus on including minority groups such as women and those with neurodiversity like herself. Jennifer has a Masters in Aeronautical Engineering and is in her final year of an engineering research PhD. She is also dyslexic, autistic and has Meares-Irlen Syndrome and has experienced the highs and lows of her diversity.

Steven Stylianou is an independent consultant working as part of the National Autistic Society’s Training and Consultancy Team across the UK, is a visiting university lecturer, a specialist academic tutor supporting autistic students through university, and is chairman of the Lincolnshire Autistic Society. He is Autistic and Epileptic.
