Neurology Update with Vasileios Lepesis
Sat 8 April 2017, 08:30 – 16:30 BST
We are pleased to welcome Vasileios Lepesis to our Neurology update. Vasileios is a lecturer at Plymouth University with extensive experience in the area.
The main aim of the day will be to examine how MSK symptoms in the foot and ankle can be present due to proximal lesions (for example - nerve entrapments) or distal lesions (radicular nerve pain). Overall, there will be a real clinical impact; podiatrists will be alerted of the multi-faceted dimensions of pain and how there can be more than one source of pain driving the condition.
Included will be:
Sources of pain in relation to subjective and objective examination
Lumbar spine and lower limb nerve anatomy - drawing on the possible pain sources
Lower back pain pathologies and their relationshiop to lower limb symtomology
A practical demo - lumbar spine, full neurolgoical assessment - myotomes, dermatomes, reflex and neurodynamic testing (straight leg raise, prone knee bend, slump test).
Clinical case studies
Registration is at 8.30 for a 9am start. Lunch and refreshments are included.
There is a discount for SOCAP members - please bring proof of membership with you.
Due to the practical nature of this workshop there will be a limit of 40 tickets available.
