Description

Neuroscience of Conflict Resolution

Resolving Conflict is not easy. First of all, the rational mind, capable of analysing information and having big picture view is "switched off" under strong emotions and stress. Secondly, we all have unconscious biases which affect how we perceive and remember the situations and bias our decision-making. Thirdly, under stress, fear or anger energy management in the brain is compromised and we cannot physically understand the needs of another person, thus, each of us become selfish and narrow-minded. These are just a few insight brain science can offer the mediators to better understand what is happening in the brains of clients and give insights on what level of thinking is possible in these states and suggest practical steps on how to help clients change their brain states.

In this workshop of neuroscientist Gabija Toleikyte (PhD) will discuss:

  • The Triune Brain Model
  • Energy management in the brain
  • Neurons and neural networks
  • Pain and Pleasure networks of the brain
  • Unconscious biases of perception, memory and decision making
  • Threat response of the brain
  • Sympathetic and Parasympathetic Nervous Systems
  • When emotions switch off rational mind - Amygdala highjack
  • How to express yourself without triggering threat response of another person.
  • What to do if threat response has been triggered in your clients?
  • Emotions and needs in the brain.
