New Approaches to Theatrical Form

By TORCH

Overview

'Radical Realisms in Contemporary British Theatre' and 'Modernism after the Ballets Russes' book conversation.

Join Professor Sos Eltis (English) in conversation with Hannah Greenstreet and Gabriela Minden on their newly published books, Radical Realisms in Contemporary British Theatre (Bloomsbury, 2025) and Modernism after the Ballets Russes (OUP, 2025). These books develop research first conducted in Hannah’s and Gabriela’s DPhil theses, each recognized with the Swapna Dev Memorial Book Prize. The discussion will consider how experiments with form have shaped theatre’s possibilities across the Victorian, modernist, and contemporary stages. Together, the speakers will reflect on the relationship between embodiment and textuality, the intersections of research and creative practice, and the process of transforming doctoral work into published scholarship.

Tea, coffee, and cake will follow, with an opportunity to continue the conversation with the speakers.
