Event Details

Practical and cost-effective training for PR practitioners in Wales 

Workshop aim

This workshop will help you to tap into your creativity and incorporate it into everyday writing tasks as well as more creatively-centred ones. It will offer advice and techniques on how to overcome writer's block, procrastination and approach writing in a more structured and effective way.

Who should attend?
Anyone writing for a wide range of communication mediums, including online and social media platforms. Highly suitable for beginners and a shot in the arm for more experienced writers.

What to expect

  • practical exercises and writing workouts and brainstorms
  • maximum participation, group/partner input and interaction
  • an own-choice project to put your new writing techniques into immediate action
  • insight from a coach who has written a range of non-fiction, scripts, fiction and business articles

Workshop objectives
Participation in the course will provide you with the knowledge to:

  • produce creative, compelling copy that engages your readers
  • write more fluently on any topic, for any purpose
  • boost your confidence in your own creative ability
  • find fresh new approaches to well- worn topics
  • write faster and more fluently
  • be organised and efficient in the writing process
  • plan your work and structure your piece
  • banish 'writer's block' for ever.

 

Note: Delegates are advised to bring laptops/tablets with them on the day and a current/up-and-coming piece of writing

Dannie-Lu Carr is a Personal Impact, Communications and Creativity specialist consultant and coach, providing one to one sessions, group workshops and speaking engagements all over the world with a wide range of organisations and individuals. She is a passionate, driven person who believes strongly in individuals working from their own confidence, skills and authentic powerful places. It gets big results in terms of team cohesion and effectiveness as well as a strong sense of personal autonomy.

Dannie is a “no BS”, direct, warm and approachable professional who is particularly strong at thinking on her feet and pushing for people to get beyond their perceived upper limit, both personally and professionally. She excels in tailoring work for professionals who are challenged by the pressures and limitations of the reality of day to day. Dannie keeps things practical, interactive, upbeat and supportive. Her communications are clear, concise and tangible.

Clients include: Publicismedia Group, Girl Effect, Signature, NHS, Sainsburys, Ballou PR, CIPR, Magenta, Langmead & Baker, ASK Europe, Johnson & Johnson and M&C Saatchi.

In an earlier life, Dannie trained and worked as a stage actor and is now a well-recognised practitioner in The Meisner Technique, working with performers around the globe. She set up The Hypercycle in 2014, in order to change the perception and application of the creative process. In 2015, followed her TEDx talk, “The Inconvenient Truth for Culture”.

In 2012, Dannie wrote the book Brilliant Assertiveness and in 2016, was a key contributor to the Psychologies Magazine book, Real Ambition: Quit Dreaming and Create Success Your Own Way. She has written two film scripts (one produced, one in development) and is also working on her first novel.

The CIPR (Chartered Institute of Public Relations) Cymru Wales is for professional communicators. Our members work across business, industry, PR consultancies and in government, education, health and other public bodies.

The CIPR is UK-wide and offers training and development leading to professional qualifications that are increasingly demanded by employers. We also strive to ensure high standards of professionalism and conduct among our members.

A committee of Welsh PR professionals looks after the interests of CIPR members in Wales - organising annual and monthly events; arranging and communicating training and career development opportunities in Wales; providing a voice for the profession in Wales; communicating national CIPR information to the Welsh membership; and working in partnership with Welsh universities on a number of fronts.
