Event description

Description

The NWG is pleased to present a Safeguarding in Sports Group in Derby in partnership with the Ann Craft Trust (ACT).

This is for people who work or volunteer in sport and activity and adults who take part in sport and activity.

The morning is your chance to experience a participant forum and the afternoon is an opportunity to hear about child sexual exploitation (CSE) and trafficking and how you can address it.

ACT participant group – morning

This session will give you a flavour of what we do in participant workshops. We hope that you will then be inspired to work with ACT to set up a workshop in your organisation to find out what safeguarding means to the people taking part or running sessions.

ACT is funded by Sport England to get the views of adults taking part in sport and activity and the volunteers and staff involved. We run workshops across the country and the overall aim is to use information gathered to inform future practice in creating and maintaining a safe place where everyone can participate in sporting activities free from fear, harm or abuse.

NWG session – afternoon

The afternoon consists of keynote presentations from NWG using their experiences of working within the field of CSE and translating how exploitation can occur in sport. Working Together 2018 and the implications for sports clubs will be discussed as well as how Human Trafficking occurs in sport. Discussion time will also be given to help delegates understand their responsibilities to safeguard adults and children in sport

So, if you are a sports participant, run a group with adult participants, are from an Active Partnership or NGB or other activity organisation, please join us!
