Event description

Description

The estate was acquired by King Henry VIII, in 1517 who greatly enlarged and enhanced the building. He named it his Beaulieu Palace. The guided tour of the site will include places not usually on view. The building’s history from 1517 to the present day will be illustrated by points of architectural interest such as Henry VIII’s coat of arms, Lord Waltham’s state bedroom, and the appropriation of fashionable 18th Century interior decoration to a Catholic girls’ school and convent.

Please note: Some parts of the building included on the tour are only accessible by stairs, therefore this tour is not suitable for wheelchair users.
