Event description

Description

The South Central Medical Directorate (NHS England) invite you to attend our annual conference on 12th June 2018 at the Hilton Hotel (Reading) entitled New horizons in health and social care.

This year the conference will be framed around the big changes that will impact the NHS and the future for our health and social care systems.

We are very pleased that the following people will be providing talks as our plenary speakers:

  • Professor Sir John Bell, Regius Professor of Medicine at Oxford University
  • Joel Gibbard, CEO and co-founder, Open Bionics
  • Rt Hon Norman Lamb, MP, Chair of the Science and Technology Select Committee
  • Professor Tony Young, National Clinical Director of Innovation, NHS England

There will be a number of breakout sessions with the following themes:

  • The foundations of wellbeing - Creating a more holistic approach to health and wellbeing will be a key feature of health and care in the future. From designing frameworks for this to happen through to specific activities in prevention and health and wellbeing, we will hear from those that are leading from the front to support in these areas.
Leadership for the future - Instilling a culture of partnership working across organisations.
  • Digital enablers - Panel discussion with Nicki Bromwich, Head of Strategic and Industry Partnerships, Oxford Academic Health Science Network and the session speakers.
  • Genomics and personalisation of care - Including sessions on Opportunities in Genomics to Tackle Microbial Resistance, and Predictive Screening and Early Detection in Cancer Prevention.
  • Building Bridges: Equity for All - Sessions on Understanding Trans Health and Inequalities and the Social Determinants of Health
  • The Arts: A Form of Primary Prevention - Including sessions on Creative Health, Dance for Falls, and Using the Arts to Raise Awareness in a Community Setting.
