Event description
A day of exploring what it looks like to work together sharing God's love with every new housing community.

About this Event

In this time of housing crisis, new housing developments are springing up all over Britain. Whole new communities and even towns are emerging sometimes with little in the way of community facilities, often with little capacity to nurture friendships amongst the new residents, usually against a backdrop of local protest, and almost always without a church building.

Our challenge as Christians is to work out our response to this changing landscape.

The New Housing Hub is committed to encouraging Christians to be a prophetic voice of welcome, amidst the sea of protest, and to work together to share God’s love with every new housing area.

Through keynote addresses, a range of seminar groups, a resource hub and networking together we will explore how to step into the unknown physically and spiritually to welcome and bless new residents and create opportunities for the Christian faith to be explored and nurtured in ways that are appropriate to the new context. Whether you are new to new housing engagement, or already in this context and keen to connect with others; whether you are developing a strategy or looking to be hands on in a new community; whether you are a church leader or member; come and share and learn together so that between us we can share God’s love with every new housing area in Lincolnshire and beyond.

The day will include light refreshments but please bring lunch with you. Tesco Express and M&S Food hall are within 5 min walk.

In the interest of sustainability, please bring a reusable cup for hot drinks and a refillable bottle or cup for water. We are seeking to reduce waste as much possible.

Directions to New Housing Hub conference in Stamford.

Stamford is a beautiful market town with many timber-framed buildings and 17th and 18th century stone buildings. But its road network remains largely-unchanged from the pre-car era. For that reason, and to be kind to the environment, we encourage people to come by train if they can. Stamford Railway station is about a 15 minute walk from the conference venue.

East-west trains run about hourly from Norwich, Stanstead Cambridge and Ely; and from Birmingham, Nuneaton, Leicester Melton Mowbray and Oakham. From north and south of Stamford, the frequent services in the East Coast Main Line simply require a change at Peterborough.

If you decide to come by car please be aware that almost all streets in the centre of Stamford have parking restrictions and on-street parking is very limited. We encourage you to use the many car parks which surround the centre. You can see where these are on https://en.parkopedia.co.uk/parking/stamford_lincs/?arriving=202001311600&leaving=202001311800

(but note that pre-bookings on this site are not guaranteed to be honoured).

Most of these car parks are 10 minutes or less walk away from the venue. Google Maps and similar programmes offer very simple walking directions on your phone.

There is no parking at, or immediately adjacent to, the venue.

If you have mobility difficulties, please let us know by 1st May 2020 and we will endeavour to provide vehicle shuttle for you. A minibus shuttle will run from the railway station from about 8.30 onwards, on a first-come first-served basis, but prioritising older and mobility-challenged delegates.

Cheyne Lane is a very small street between High Street and St. Mary’s Street. The entrance from High Street is not signposted, but is between Oasis (ladies fashions) and James Will (men's fashions) near St. Martin’s church. The entrance from St. Mary’s Street is signposted, and is between the Stamford Cheese Cellar and Cher Soi’ ‘ almost opposite St. Mary’s church.

In light of the recent Covid-19 Pandemic, we are aware that we may need to postpone this event. In the possibility of this occurrence, we will email all delegates and inform you of the changes, if you cannot make the new date, we will then issue a full refund upon request.
