Description
Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) is a rare but serious condition affecting the vessels that take blood from the heart to the lungs. In this seminar, two leading experts will discuss their research into PAH, the biological mechanisms underlying the disease and new ways to approach the treatment and management of patients with the condition.
Martin Wilkins is Professor of Clinical Pharmacology at Imperial College London. He is Vice Dean (Research) for the Faculty of Medicine, a role he combines with Head of the Department of Medicine and Director of the National Institute of Health Research / Wellcome Trust Imperial Clinical Research Facility, Hammersmith Hospital. He will discuss the disease and how he is searching for new treatments.
Stephen Wort is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the National Heart and Lung Institute and is Clinical Lead for Pulmonary Hypertension at the Royal Brompton Hospital. The hospital is a designated national centre for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension. His talk will focus on advancing the clinical management of patients with the condition.
