Agenda

10:30am–12:15pm Introduction to OPAL

Learn more about the OPAL Primary Programme from OPAL mentor Kate Smith and hear about Littletown's OPAL journey from the school's staff.

12:15pm–1:15pm Observation of playtime

Come and see a platinum OPAL playtime in action – ask the children about how they manage risk and the grown-ups about the changes they have seen.

About Littletown Primary Academy

Littletown is a large school of around 430 pupils. They were accredited an OPAL Platinum Award in June 2024. The school has large grounds consisting of two split tarmac playgrounds and a grass field. With a school commitment to the UNCRC Rights of the Child, this school views their OPAL playtimes as the '13th curricular subject'.

Parking is limited on site but there is on street parking nearby.

Only two tickets per schools please. If you can no longer come, please let us know so we can release your place to another school.

The programme was developed by Michael Follett, a former school improvement adviser and teacher who has spent the past 23 years specialising in creating this programme to support school improvement through better play.  The OPAL programme has been delivered to around 1000 schools in the UK and is rapidly expanding in Canada, SE Asia and all across Europe.
