Description

New Media Workshop

Thanks to the HUGE success of our June event we are organising another one this September, this time in Birmingham. (the venue is just ten minutes drive from the M5 and next to Sandwell and Dudley train station)

"Never been heard before and now they'll roar" Empowering victims, survivors and whistle-blowers to get their message out on new media platforms.

We believe mobile journalism has the power to change the world, for the better. It gives a voice to those who never had one before, or should we say a roar! and there is a glimmer of hope that vulnerable children can finally see a truthful, happy and prosperous future.

What to expect

This two day workshop is being paid for, from the proceeds of Michael Tarraga's book, Meat Rack Boy. This is the first of many we will be running using the profit made from the book.

Michael Tarraga was horrifically sexually abused in care, during the 1950's and 60's. Thanks to the success of his book, he has generously donated all of the profits to help other survivors like him tell their story. The proceeds will also help whistle-blowers like former Scotland Yard detective Jon Wedger get their stories heard on new media platforms.

One night's accomodation on the 12th September at a Premier Inn hotel in Oldbury Birmingham, plus training and food will be paid for (drinks and travel to the venue are extra)

Who is the course for?

If you are a whistle-blower from a professional organisation (social worker, teacher etc..) or a survivor of child abuse, this workshop is for you. It's specifically for people who want to share their stories of courage against adversity to fight for a fairer future for all. It is about putting children first, the ethos of Meat Rack Boy and Jon Wedger’s new media platform.
