Event description

Description

Ofsted NEW inspection framework and changes to the EYFS September 2019

We will be attending the Ofsted workshop in London to hear their views on the introduction of the new EDUCATION INSPECTION FRAMEWORK (EIF) and this training is to give feedback from that event.

Ofsted is clear that the ‘curriculum’, the educational choices we make for children, will be at the heart of the new framework. They use that word in the current early years inspection handbook, but have come up with a working definition so we are clear about what this means.

The EYFS (educational programmes) provides the curriculum framework that leaders build on to decide what they intend children to learn and develop

Leaders and practitioners decide how they will implement the curriculum so children make progress in the seven areas of learning – Ofsted will keep their definition of ‘teaching’

Leaders and practitioners evaluate the impact of the curriculum by checking what children know and can do.

Ofsted recently focused a training session for their inspectors on what the ‘curriculum’ means for early years. The serving inspectors reported that they found this useful and thought provoking. Therefore, Ofsted are sharing this session with local authorities and registered early years providers. We are attending one of these sessions and will feedback all the relevant information at this workshop. We will also note Ofsted's thoughts about their proposals for the EIF.

The meeting will report directly from Ofsted on their latest updates and expectations for:

 What does the "curriculum" mean for Early Years

 Distinguishing the curriculum from teaching and assessment

 Proposals for the new EIF - the quality of education

 Self-regulation

 Updates from the review of the Early Learning Goals, and implications for the new EYFS

Places are limited so please book in as soon as possible. Cost £50

FAQs

LOCATION GUIDANCE:

The venue is at the offices of Randall and Payne accountants. It is located on the A46 Shurdington Road, between Cheltenham and Shurdington. Use the postcode GL51 4GA and look for the Randall and Payne pink and white signs. Visitors car parking is on the right as you come in the entrance.

If you are heading north up the A46 you will pass the Cricket Club on the right. Randall and Payne are on the left just after this.

If you are heading south down the A46, you will come over a roundabout at Up Hatherly Road. Go straight over towards Stroud. The offices for Randall and Payne are on the right after 500 yards. If you reach the Cricket Club you have missed it. Turn around here and come back to R&P.

Is this event suitable for childminders?

Yes - the inspection process for childminders uses the same documents and so this is very relevant.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No you do not need to print the ticket or bring it to the course.

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

That's fine. Please contact the organisers with the names of the delegates so that we know who to expect.
