This collaborative event marks the publication of a new and ground-breaking collection of essays, Racialization and Religion, edited by Nasar Meer, which brings together the contemporary study of Antisemitism and Islamophobia. The collection challenges the extent to which the racialization of Jews and Muslims has been explored in distinct and separate debates.

Three eminent scholars featured in the collection will offer their perspectives on the following:

Brian Klug          Interrogating ‘New Antisemitism’

Tariq Modood      Islamophobia and the Struggle for Recognition

Pnina Werbner    Folk Devils and Racist Imaginaries in a Global Prism: Islamophobia

and Antisemitism in the Twenty-First Century

These short talks will be followed by questions and answers and a general discussion around the issues raised by the collection.

The event will conclude with a drinks reception. Copies of Racialization and Religion will be available for purchase at a special discounted price.
