Event description

Description

On 20 June 2017, Angela Constance, Cabinet Secretary for Communities, Social Security and Equalities, announced the start of engagement with a range of stakeholders about the future of Scotland's strategy for integrating asylum seekers and refugees*. We want your voice to be heard in shaping the future of this important strategy. We want to know how you can contribute to improving the lives of the thousands of asylum seekers and refugees in Scotland and the communities they live in. At this event we will work with you and make sure your views are reflected in the future strategy.

There will be a range of interesting and inspiring speakers who will give perspectives on how housing organisations can work with asylum seekers and refugees, building lives and communities with us all. In addition, with lunch provided from 1pm, you will have an opportunity to network with others committed to achieving this goal, making the contacts you need to play your part.

So, we hope that you will join us for this important event.

* The first New Scots Strategy ran from 2013 to 2017 and was designed to improve the way we work with refugees and asylum seekers in Scotland through Housing, Health, Employment/Welfare, Communities, Education ad addressing the needs of dispersed asylum seekers. You can read the old strategy at http://www.gov.scot/Publications/2013/12/4581 and the final report relating to the strategy at http://www.gov.scot/newscotsfinalreport.
