Event description

Description

Aberdeenshire has now resettled more that 50 Syrian and Iraqi families into Westhill, Kintore, Inverurie and Ellon, via the Syrian Vulnerable Person's Relocation Scheme. Many are young parents married during war or dispersal, with children born into war or refugee status.

With the support of partners, families have settled well, but early years' practitioners, educators, health professionals and young families themselves highlight a number of ongoing challenges. These are primarily around, language, communication, engaging in early years' activities and the process of two way integration and co production.

The Early Years' Strategy Group, Al-Amal Project and Refugee Resettlement Team, would like to bring together young Syrian mum's and professionals for a morning, to talk about their experiences, challenges, cultural nuances and most importantly how we can improve and deliver better outcomes for families with young children.
