Event description
Join us for an evening with writer & director Peter Strickland, interviewed by SP co-founder Cath Le Couteur.

About this Event

For the NEW SHOOTS Autumn event we are thrilled to be welcoming the cult British writer and director Peter Strickland (‘In Fabric’, ‘The Duke of Burgundy’, ‘Berberian Sound Studio’), to discuss his career and distinctive filmmaking style.

Strickland started making short films on Super 8 and 16mm in the early '90s, and first came to international prominence with his 2009 debut feature film, 'Katalin Varga,' which was shot and edited on a budget of £25,000. Praised for its sound design as well as its ominous atmosphere, the Transylvanian tragedy led to funding from the British film industry.

Strickland’s superb meta-giallo audio-chiller 'Berberian Sound Studio' (starring Toby Jones) followed in 2012, along with the exquisite dominant/submissive romance, 'The Duke of Burgundy' (starring Sidse Babett Knudsen), and the hypnotic concert film ‘Björk: Biophilia Live.’ His fourth feature 'In Fabric’, (starring Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Hayley Squires) blends Giallo-infused horror with absurdist dark humour and was released to critical acclaim in 2019, cementing his growing reputation as truly unique filmmaker. Strickland has proved himself as a master of manipulating mood with lush but disturbing sound and visuals.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to join us for an evening with one of the UK’s most exciting filmmakers, interviewed by SP co-founder Cath Le Couteur, followed by networking with other film creatives

**Please note that, because this is a free event, we over-subscribe tickets. Having a ticket, therefore, does not guarantee entry. Please arrive promptly to avoid disappointment.**
