The webinar will explore new approaches through collaboration at a catchment level to revalorise agri waste streams

About this event

The webinar will explore and identify potential approaches through collaborative ventures at a catchment level scale to revalorise different streams of agri waste into high value, low carbon solutions.

One of the many challenges facing the sector today is how to reintegrate agricultural outputs and recover some of their value back into the supply chain. This also represents an opportunity to diversify farming activities and develop new income streams without impacting on existing practices.

There is a range of technologies which can provide routes to revalorise agri waste and co-products. Through collaborative ventures at a catchment level scale these could provide a business case scenario for investment.

This webinar provides insight and expertise that exists within Scotland that will provide new thinking to drive forward solutions relevant for both agri co-ops and their individual farmer members.

The program includes three keynote speakers who will host three breakout sessions to explore different aspects of waste revalorisation.

- Peter Murphy, Director of UK water Ltd: will provide a look at how cereal production supply chain for the drinks Industry could return benefits to soil productivity whilst creating economic value in Scotland’s rural environment whilst decarbonising the supply chain.

- Prof. Derek Stewart, FRSC, Director of the Advanced Plant Growth Centre. Will discuss the scope of agri waste in Scotland. Examples of potential valorisation routes will be identified that can be done either complete or partially on farm. The need for technology and associated investment will be identified.

- Isabel Vincent, Project Engagement Manager IBioIC, will give an overview of the support IBioIC provides with funding, technical, training and networking and provide some examples of projects in agri tech that have been funded.
