Mudlarks love poppyhead beakers, Nick and Claire examine how MoLA research and

FoHRK experimental pottery reveal Highgate Ware’s ceramic secrets.

Claire Davey of the Museum of London Archaeology and Nick Peacey, MBE, of the

Friends of Highgate Roman Kiln, explore how recent excavations and experimental firings

deepen our understanding of Roman ceramics.

Nick discusses the 2024/25 replica kiln building and pot firings funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Claire explores ‘poppy-headed beakers’, common from AD 70, and what their form and fabrication reveal about life in Londinium.
