New Town and Broughton Community Council meeting on Monday 11th July 2022 at 7:00pm - attending virtually via Zoom
About this event
Following the successful in-person NTBCC AGM & June meeting, we agreed to hold an additional meeting in July to cover a few key topics that couldn't be covered due to time pressures as well as an additional presentation (TBC) by the Royal High School Preservation Trust (RHSPT) & Richard Murphy Architects on the latest (amended) plans for the National School for Music in the former Royal High School.
This is in addition to the list of published meeting dates for 2022.
For ease of both NTBCC members and members of the public, this will again be held using the Zoom platform.
The full agenda for the July meeting will be published soon on our website, https://www.ntbcc.org.uk/meetings/
We look forward to as many residents as possible joining us for this as well as local councillors - at least those who are not taking a well-earned break during the Council's recess.
What's going to be discussed ?
The July meeting , after the few necessary formalities, will start with discussions on the latest Police Report.
This will be followed by a short presentation from Richard Murphy Architects & the RHSPT on the latest (amended) plans(22/02449/FUL & 22/02550/LBC) to their previous application which was approved in early 2017. Although the period for submitting comments on this application has now passed, we believe that this important development will be of interest to both NTBCC members as well as the wider public.
Under Transport, the main topic for discussion will be the delayed presentation / discussion from residents along East London Street (ELS) as well as representatives from Lothian Buses on the long-standing issue of noise / nuisance from increased traffic movements along ELS. There will be also be updates to several other ongoing topics : the latest news from the EV charger roll-out scheme & discussion on NTBCC's response to the (poor) 1st stage consultation for retention of the 'Travelling Safely' (aka 'Spaces for People') proposals within NTBCC's area.
Under Licensing, we'll discuss the issue of various public house applications within NTBCC's area covered by the 'over-provsion' policy as well as some temporary applications in St James Square amongst others.
Following that will be a brief update on the raft of (mostly retrospective) STL applications which bloated the Weekly List earlier in May as well as the follow-up meeting on 27 - 29 Beaverhall Road. which included local elected members as well as current tenants with the developers on their recent planning application . Finally, initial views on the pre-consultation proposals for the final phase of the Powderhall Waste Transfer site following both online sessions and in person sessions, including a presentation at the Leith Cenral Community Council meeting..
We'll then cover environmental issues including the proposed Communal Bin Hub trial for the World Heritage site.
There may be time to provide an update from a meeting discussing the Council's response to our recent submisison on the 'George Street & First New Town project (GSFNT), addressing concerns that were raised by NTBCC.
The final agenda item will be the (Old & ) New Towns of Edinburgh World Heritage Site Management Plan review including NTBCC's proposals for engagement with local resdients.
This isn't all that's on the agenda but it should be more than enough to whet your appetite and fill the 2 hours available comfortably but if there are other issues that local residents are interested in - then always happy to hear these, please contact us via https://www.ntbcc.org.uk/contact/
We'll then try to make time available under any other business to respond to any other issues or concerns raised.
