Event description
A Student Symposium on New Trinitarian Ontologies

About this Event

Theologians once studied the simplest question of being so as to study the greatest question of God. Modern ontology has often attempted to build a towering structure of being, but, by failing to secure its foundations, has tended to evacuate being into nothing in postmodern nihilism.

Yet if ontology cannot contain but rather points to God, then we may once more begin to investigate new approaches to metaphysics or ontology in imitation of the Trinity. We may witness today a momentous opportunity to collaborate in the construction of new ontologies of the Trinity.

In September 2019, the University of Cambridge hosted the acclaimed New Trinitarian Ontologies conference. We invite you to present a paper in response to the themes of the New Trinitarian Ontologies conference:

- Ontology and Metaphysics

- Logic and Mathematics

- Phenomenology and Hermeneutics

- Politics and Ecology

- Poetics and Imagination

- Relations and Repetition

The New Trinitarian Ontologies Symposium will be free and open to students and the general public. Catering will be provided. And the proceedings of the symposium will be recorded for an online and public audience.

The New Trinitarian Ontologies Symposium will be held from 9 am to 6 pm in the Lightfoot Room of the University of Cambridge Faculty of Divinity on Friday 6 March 2020. A college dinner will be provided for guest speakers.

Titles and Abstracts Due Friday 31 January 2020
