Newburgh Aberdeenshire Climate Action Group Climate Art Competition
Event Information
About this Event
As part of our activities for Climate Week North East, we are launching an Environmental Art Competition for Newburgh (and surrounding area) residents! Everyone is invited to enter, of any age, and artworks can be in any medium from photography to painting, drawing to sculpture – and anywhere in between! We ask that your artwork be around the theme of ‘Our Environment’, in some way celebrating the beautiful place in which we live.
Please email a photograph of your artwork to newburghclimateaction@gmail.com by Sunday 18th April 2021, including your name and age range (either ‘under 12’, ’12-18’ or ‘over 18’) and you will be in with a chance to win the coveted prize of your artwork becoming Newburgh Climate Action Group’s new logo! (We will organise a few other prizes too 😃)
Please also keep your actual artwork, as we will hold an exhibition of them all in the Village Hall as part of the post-refurbishment grand re-opening.
Fancy entering but looking for inspiration? Why not think about drawing, painting or photographing something you love outside; or making a sculpture from found rubbish (like artist Tony Cragg – search for his plastic sculptures on Google); or assemble a temporary sculpture made from stones or leaves and photograph it (like artist Andy Goldsworthy). Subjects you could take inspiration from are the sea, the river, trees, flowers, animals, the beach, the dunes, the sky. You could also address the issue of climate change directly. Try a material you’ve never used before like charcoal or watercolours, plasticine or anything else you have handy. Be brave and get creative Newburgh! Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
