About this event

  • Event lasts 4 hours 30 minutes

Join artists Roger Drury and Sara Rickard on a walk around the Lake in Newent.

This will be a walk with a difference because we will be stopping regularly to respond imaginatively and will be followed by a mono printing workshop with Nichola Goff.

The patterns and textures seen on the walk will help inspire your creations. No experience necessary. All materials will be provided.

10.30 - 12.30pm for the Walk

12.30 - 1.30pm Lunch in a local cafe (there is one near the Secret Gallery) or people bring their own (lunch wont be included)

1.30 - 3.00pm Nic's workshop Monoprinting with Nichola Goff from The Yard Print Studio

Taking inspiration from what we are experiencing in the landscape participants will be guided by Nichola to create intuitive, lively monotype prints. Monoprint is a printmaking process that doesn't need a press and can be quick and spontaneous, allowing you to respond to your surroundings using drawing and mark-making in ink to make unique and fascinating prints.

About the Creative Walks programme: Canopy Creative Walks nurture connection, creative thinking and mental wellbeing through a combination of time outdoors, gentle exercise and social interaction. They are open to everyone. The routes are relatively short, the emphasis being on the journey taken rather than the destination. They follow a process of looking, listening, responding individually and collectively and sharing time together. Each walk is carefully researched, uniquely designed and guided by the leader/artist. Participants are encouraged to stop to observe, record, photograph, listen or consider a particular feature. Numerous approaches are offered to enable individuals to make a personal response visually or in words. The aim is to demonstrate various creative starting points which can be developed by participants later. At the end of the walk we share work, ideas and a coffee/sandwich at a nearby café for anyone interested in joining.
