On this early evening amble, as darkness falls, we will explore the sites of strange experiences and legends, relating them to the history of the locale and to theories of the paranormal.
We will take in stories around two greens - the old Newington Green and the new Butterfield Green - connected by an ancient trackway which once cut across the fields between Newington Green and Stoke Newington.
Meet in front of Lizzy’s on the Green Café (by the central entrance on the west side of Newington Green). The walk ends at The Shakespeare Pub on Allen Road (see pics below).
The walk takes 2 hours. I walk in (almost) all weathers, so please come prepared! The terrain is mostly flat, with a few uneven and dark surfaces, some steps and a few roads to cross. Recommended age: 15+.
For information about my other North London ghost walks, please visit: www.storiesofourstreets.com/walks. The sister walk to this one, Soke Newington Ghost Walk, takes in the area around Church Street, N16 - the (very haunted!) heart of the old village. I also have walks around the Angel Islington and lower Holloway/Barnsbury, and a new walk exploring strange tales within the squares and institutions of Bloomsbury.
I look forward to walking with you on my serious ghost walks - for the seriously curious!
