Event description

Description

Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund Wales, Winding Snake Productions have been engaged in a filmmaking project with the Rainbows, Brownies, Girl Guides and Rangers based at Beechwood Presbyterian Church in Newport since February 2016. As part of the program, the girls have worked with professional filmmakers and animators, a writer, a professor of history, a composer and some female engineers to help make an animated documentary about the achievements of the female munition workers based in Newport during the second world war.

You are invited to celebrate this intensive year long program at a red carpet screening, with the team from Winding Snake Productions, the funding bodies that made the work possible, plus special guests!

Newport Gun Girls is a unique and beautiful documentary, where girls living in the community around the site of ROF 11 today, turned back time to hear the voices of girls just like them.

The event venue is being provided by our project partners, First Campus at the University of South Wales and will take place at City Campus in Newport.

Doors will open at 6pm. Refreshments will be served afterwards in the foyer. The event will finish at 7.30pm.

We look forward to seeing you.

This project was funded and supported by Heritage Lottery Fund Wales, First Campus at the University of South Wales, Girl Guiding Wales and Winding Snake Productions.
