About this event

NewT Talks are co-hosted by Manchester Metropolitan University (Man Met), UK and the South East Technological University (SETU), Ireland.

We welcome two speakers to our next event Stephanie Aldred and William Machaca.

Stephanie Aldred will discuss internationalization; what it means in a HE context; practical techniques for learning and teaching and the benefits of a diverse learning community. There will be opportunities to ask questions, and some take away resources to use or adapt for your own teaching.

About Stephanie Aldred: Stephanie is a Senior Lecturer in Higher Education (HE) Development at Manchester Metropolitan University. Her expertise in pedagogical dimensions of internationalization benefit from her academic discipline as a linguist and teacher of languages as well as her experiences of leading language training programmes in Italy, Germany, Sweden, Finland, and Japan. She continues to innovate language based HE practice, with her current research interest focusing on dialogic approaches to reflection, self-efficacy and professional recognition.

William Machaca will share his career story highlighting his involvement in collaborations between the Higher Education systems in Peru and the United Kingdom through projects and initiatives on internationalization schemes, convening government stakeholders, universities, and other key stakeholders.

About William Machaca: William is the Project Manager Education at British Council Peru. William’s academic background is education and ELT; with over 30 years of teaching and teacher training experience, he worked at the Peruvian Ministry of Education as curriculum management and capacity building specialist in 2015 before joining British Council in 2017 as Education Coordinator.
