Over the past year, GrowSave ran a pilot study group project focusing on implementing Next Generation Growing (NGG) techniques in the UK horticulture sector. The group was a mix of growers of protected edibles and herbs, as well as one crop consultant. NGG expertise was provided by Mark van der Werf, a Dutch grower turned consultant who has worked extensively on NGG in the Netherlands, where the concept was first developed.

The pilot project has now come to an end, but we will be holding a workshop on 14 February to share the outcomes with the wider industry. Growers who took part in the project will share what they learnt, the impacts they experienced and how they have benefited from the NGG techniques. Mark van der Werf will also be there to explain some of the ideas and how to implement the techniques in a real-world environment for maximum benefit.
