Next Generation Paper - future book technology - Webinar

We are pleased to invite you to a Webinar to be held on 11th November 2020 at 2pm-4pm. This event replaces our previous event which was scheduled at the British Library in March which was cancelled due to current restrictions.Webinar log in details of the event to follow. Please register your place via the link. We look forward to your attendance.

For more than two decades there have been predictions about the death of paper as a communications medium in favour of digital technologies and devices. The reality is that not only are the purchase of books and magazines on the rise, we are now seeing more interest in experimenting with new forms of integrated digital and non-digital forms of communication. However, significant questions remain: What are the key technical challenges facing integrated digital and non-digital solutions? What user interaction styles and behaviours are suited to these approaches? How are new forms of digital paper changing the information landscape? What kinds of business opportunities are created by these hybrid forms?

Join us on 11th November via our Zoom Webinar, as we discuss these questions. As organisations seek to innovate with exciting approaches to combine text, sound and images, this workshop discusses the results of a £1.17m, three-year multidisciplinary research project investigating directions and applications of next generation paper-based devices in domain such as tourism, education and health. Along with demonstrations of research and commercial solutions, the workshop will highlight key lessons from the project and consider the future direction and application for this work.

Hosted by the Digital World Research Centre at the University of Surrey, we bring together academics and industry leaders together in an informative webinar.
