Next Level Ferments | Brining
Mon 5 June 2017, 19:00 – 22:00 BST
This year, as part of an innovative line up of microbial sorcerers and small-batch artisans and producers - AlchemyFlow is bringing home an expansive curriculum on the fermentation arts to help deepen your home-based practice and bring some snazz and tang to your dining table.
We have made it our mission this year to hold your hand through some of the more technical aspects of fermentation, to improve your confidence and repertoire and introduce you back into the world with some mad fermentation skills.
Beyond the pragmatics, you'll be introduced to some of the leading lights in the fermentation community, who will mesmerize you with their cultural and political perspectives on the tradition. Not to mention inspiring your practice through cutting edge knowledge and insights on gut health, healing and nutrition.
Our first week will be led by Annie Levy. author of the award winning blog 'Kitchen Counter Culture' and all round fermentation fanatic. Expect a four hour safari through different brining techniques applied to an array of different recipes and vegetable medleys spanning different cultures and cuisines.
Annie Levy, an American based in mid-Wales, is an experienced and creative fermenter who has been leading pickling workshops and demonstrations for over five years. Her teaching approach is simple: everyone can ferment to high standards with a few basic instructions to build upon, applying their own culinary impulses to a practice unique to them. She loves working with community and food rescue groups, with fermenting in the context of skilling-up in a movement for a better food system. Her workshops always include tasting a variety of delicious, sometimes experimental, fermented veg, to give fermentation newcomers and oldtimers alike a sense of the possible expanse.
