NEXUS MIDLANDS - Mini-masterclasses: Future of Film
Event Information
About this event
Prepare yourself for jumping back on set this year by joining us for our Mini-masterclasses session on 'The Future of Film', taking place on Zoom on Thursday 20th January.
WHAT IS 'MINI-MASTERCLASSES'?
This is our 4th annual 'mini-masterclasses' event. Each themed event brings us several guest speakers who'll talk and answer questions about their specialist subject, all linked under our chosen theme. Past themes have been 'connecting departments', ' 'schemes & opportunities', and 'making your freelance career sustainable'.
THE FUTURE OF FILM
This year's event is all about looking forward. Our industry is facing so much change - so what are these changes? Many of them are positive, such as watching our carbon footprint, improving our mental wellbeing, and promoting equal opportunities, but some changes are more difficult, such as living with Covid-19, and functioning post-Brexit. So how are these changes affecting us?
Well, we're excited to be announcing 4 amazing guest-speakers on the lead up to the event who'll help us find out, so stay tuned!
GUEST #1 - Scarlett Kefford - how we are adapting to life on set with Covid
GUEST #2 - Intimacy with Roo - how intimacy coordinators are improving sex on our screens
GUEST #3 - Lou Platt - how we can look after our mental well-being in this industry
GUEST #4 - Tbc
APPROXIMATE TIMINGS
7:20pm - Zoom link will be open to join
7:30pm - Mini-masterclasses commence
8:50pm - Pitch Up
9:05pm - 10:30 - Breakout room networking
PITCH UP & NETWORKING
As always, after our mini-masterclasses, there'll be a chance to pitch yourself or a project/collaboration/opportunity to the room in 60 seconds. This is a perfect way to tell people who you are & what you're looking for so that once you're in a breakout room, people can enquire for more info & chat it through.
The breakout rooms will be rotated every 15-20 minutes until approx. 10:30pm to make sure you can connect with as many people as possible.
TICKETS
Tickets are free but we do ask for a donation where possible as we are a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers. Donations directly pay for venue hire costs and our expenses for continually running this event, otherwise it comes out of our pockets and we are actors & filmmakers trying to find our way in this industry and make ends meet, just like many of you!
