NHS Dentistry & Improving Oral Health;
The Vision for
The Future

Janet Clarke, Deputy Chief Dental Officer-England

Wed, January 18th, 2016

Aim:
To update participants about current initiatives and encourage discussion

Objectives:
By the end of the session, it is hoped that all the participants would be able to:
  • To update about the way the NHS is now organised
  • To consider current CDO work streams to improve oral health and NHS dentistry

This is a fantastic opportunity for us all to "future-proof", whether that be ourselves and our career plans, or for our own practice and patients. Janet has in-depth knowledge as to the direction that NHS dentistry is going to take as the Deputy Chief Dental Officer for England, and we would be well advised to take note of what she has to say.

 Janet will endeavour to cover the move to localism in healthcare and what that might mean for dental services.  Janet has suggested a 30 minute talk followed by an interactive session, so please do come armed with as many questions as you can think of while we have the opportunity to find out what is the government position on the future of dentistry.

We anticipate that the lecture will be useful to those of us who are:
NHS and Private Independant and Corporate Dental Principals and Associates, Hygienists and Therapists.

We are really inclusive and sociable, so we would like to welcome all dentists including non-BDA members, and all members of the dental team who and are free of charge. We have tea, coffee, a buffet supper and an open bar for 45 minutes before the lecture starts, to give everyone a chance to wind down from work and to chat with colleagues, friends and the speakers and sponsors.

The only costs are £10 if you would like to have supper with us, and £10 for dentists that are not members of the BDA. Places for supper need to be booked 1 week in advance, and places for the lecture should be booked so that we can ensure we have CPD certificates and enough tea and coffee available. If you would like to come at the last minute or need to cancel please just email BDAGlos@gmail.com.

The format of the meeting is always the same - arrive for 18:45 if you have booked to join us for a buffet supper, or 19:15 for a 19:30 lecture start. The venue is always the Royal George Hotel, Birdlip GL4 8JH. The meeting gives 1.5 hours of verifiable CPD.
We very much look forward to seeing you there!
