Event description

Description

Join us for an engaging and thought provoking event to share experiences, learn and contribute to an innovative and important piece of work that aims to impact on the future of digital communication in health care. We are building on findings from the LYNC research project to create a new, even more ambitious, interdisciplinary study of digital health in the context of the practitioner-patient relationship.

At our interactive workshop we will discuss key issues around the use of digital technology in health care. We are bringing together a range of interested people (NHS service users, service providers, patient advocacy organisations, policy makers, digital practitioners) to understand their issues, interests and perspectives around the current and potential impact of digital technologies on practitioner-patient relationships.

Given what we see as the critical significance of these relationships as at the heart of high-quality health care, we want to examine the real and practical ways that this relationship is transformed. We seek your help to explore questions like:

  1. Do you agree that the most important impact of digital technologies into health care will be found in the practitioner-patient relationship?
  2. Is digital care more efficient care? Is it more effective care?
  3. What sort of problems have you already experienced, or can you foresee, as a result of new modes of digital communication?
  4. Is the introduction of digital technologies in health care a positive development?

In addition to discussion in small and large groups, we are excited also to explore these questions through an innovative, drama-led interactive session, in which theatre professionals will present scenarios to facilitate discussion and to share learning between different people who provide or receive health care.

We will provide lunch and refreshments throughout the workshop. We have a small fund available for people who need help with travel costs. Please get in touch with us to discuss this.

Join us and:

  • Discuss how digital technologies impact on the relationship between health care professional and patient.

  • Find out about recent research developments.

  • Learn from others who provide or receive health care.

  • Network with health professionals, policy makers, patient advocates, and researchers.

Feedback on the drama-led approach from education, social care, policy and health professionals:

“One of the best courses I have been on. Very informative and thought provoking”

“Excellent approach to learning and engaging us as professionals – superb actors.”

“Fabulous, interesting, engaging and entertaining”
