Aims:

To develop advanced competence in the radiographic assessment and management of dentoalveolar radiopacities, with emphasis on diagnostic differentiation and appropriate surgical decision-making.

Objectives:

At the end of this study session, and after a period of reflection and self-directed study, delegates should be able to:

· Evaluate radiopacities within the dentoalveolar region on various imaging modalities, including intraoral radiographs, CBCT and cross-sectional imaging, with emphasis on correlating radiological findings with clinical presentation.

· Differentiate benign from malignant radiopacities based on key radiological characteristics in conjunction with clinical progression and symptoms.

· Generate differential diagnoses for both common and uncommon radiopaque lesions considering patient demographics, medical history and clinical context.

· Apply decision-making protocols to determine when observation, repeat imaging, biopsy or urgent referral is appropriate, guided by lesion behaviour and our current evidence-base.
