Event Details

Multi award-winning musicians Nick Pynn and Kate Daisy Grant make a welcome return to The Art House. This two hour show comprises Nick’s catchy, melodic avant-folk tunes (with Kate as his band) and Kate’s original torch/folk/pop songs (with Nick as her band) and features self-made, traditional, toy and curiosity instruments as well as death-defying live looping.

They use a vast array of instruments and curiosities, many self-made. Using live-looping, Nick layers together a wall of sound, featuring his 5 string fiddle, bass pedals, wine glasses, theremin, dulcimer and more. Kate joins Nick to create a two-person orchestra, adding piano, toys and various string instruments.

Both Nick and Kate garnered 5* reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe and won ‘Best Music Act’ at the Brighton Latest Fringe and Festival Awards 2013.

‘Beautiful...compelling, intriguing and magical. These are truly two of the finest, creative and outstanding musicians around and this is a show definitely not to be missed. *****’ Edinburgh Spotlight

‘Kate Daisy Grant and Nick Pynn have managed an incredible feat; capturing the dynamic DIY spirit of the Fringe...using unique and home-made instruments this pair create some of the most electrifying music to be found at this festival. ***** ‘ Three Weeks

‘A hit on the Edinburgh Fringe, Pynn and Grant present a combination of avant-folk and experi-pop, presented with warmth, wit and something a bit like magic’ - Time Out
