Event description
IHRD Implementation Programme: Update and next steps NICON October Discussion Session

About this Event

On 31 January 2018, the report from the Inquiry into Hyponatraemia-Related Deaths (IHRD) was published, when Justice O’Hara set out 96 recommendations across 10 themes to address key system failures. To address these issues, the Department of Health set up a major programme of work, involving 9 workstreams, with significant involvement from clinicians, patients, carers, partners and HSC leaders. Over a year on with considerable work already begun, NICON are delighted to welcome Fergal Bradley, IHRD Programme Manager, who is leading on this work on behalf of the Department of Health. After a short presentation, Peter McNaney, Chair of HSC Chairs Forum, will invite comments from Dr Peter McBride, who chairs the Duty of Candour and Being Open Workstream, Patricia Donnelly, who is provides independent support to the workstreams, as well as Dr Mark Taylor, one of the lead clinicians on the Transformation Implementation Group. We will then move to an open discussion to allow time to collectively consider the emerging implications and action need across our system.
